Casey’s DJ pick of the week is “Looks Like The End Of The Road” by Alison Krauss & Union Station!

American bluegrass, folk, and country group, Alison Krauss & Union Station is back with their first release in fourteen years! Alison Krauss & Union Station is a group full of award-winning multi-instrumentalists. Composed of Alison Krauss (fiddle, lead vocals), Jerry Douglas (Dobro, lap steel vocals), Ron Block (banjo, guitar, vocals) Barry Bales (bass, vocals), and the newest addition, Russell Moore (co-lead vocals, multi-instrumentalist). “Looks Like The End Of The Road” is the lead single from the group’s upcoming album Arcadia. Following the release of Arcadia on March 28th, Alison Krauss & Union Station will be touring across America for the first time in ten years.

“Looks Like The End Of The Road” paints a vivid picture through its tragic storytelling and somber musicality. The song opens with the lyrics “It’s the end of the circus / And I’m feeling sad like a clown / My makeup is drowning in / Blood, sweat and tears.” These lyrics alongside bright acoustic guitar and ringing instrumentation help to construct a picture of a sad rodeo clown’s world going down in flames.

In “Looks Like The End Of The Road,” Alison Kraus & Union Station aim to tell a tragic truth in a calming yet melodious format. Through its delivery, the group manages to create a relatable ballad for when a chapter is coming to a close. Check out the official lyric video for “Looks Like The End Of The Road” below!
