The first day of fall means TWILIGHT SEASON! Us interns wanted to pay homage to the beautiful and perfect series of Twilight. We each picked our favorite songs from the soundtrack to get you in the fall mood.

Zerita’s Pick – Muse “I Belong to You”

The lesser known Muse tune from The Twilight Saga, “I Belong to You” appears in New Moon. The second installment in the film franchise, while undoubtedly being the best, is full of new intrigue as Bella becomes closer with Jacob – the werewolf. As Bella struggles to reconcile the end of her relationship with Edward with the torch she still holds for him, both Jacob and the band Muse are there for her while he is not. For those of us on Team Jacob, watching the whole Twilight Saga can be a losing battle, but at least the sweet sounds of Muse are here to soothe. “I Belong to You” is an upbeat rock song with a touch of whimsical energy like the Beatles Sgt. Peppers or The Beach Boys Pet Sounds, which the band says they took inspiration from. Lyrically, the inspiration is from the Biblical tale of Samson and Deliah, a doomed romance similar to Edward and Bella’s. Listen to “I Belong to You” by Muse below!

Michelle’s Pick – Paramore “I Caught Myself”

Choosing one song from the Twilight series is nearly impossible for me, but Paramore is always a hit. This song is featured in the background while Bella is with her friends shopping for prom dresses, but it definitely deserved more of a feature. Hayley Williams delivers every lyric with that signature ache. It mirrors the tension and longing that is felt throughout the film. You can feel the undertones of yearning, of something just out of reach, which is basically the theme of Twilight itself. This is the kind of song made for late-night drives with the windows cracked, when you’re in your feelings and need to crash. And that final chorus, right after the bridge? I’m screaming it at the top of my lungs every time. Listen to this banger below, you’ll get it.

Grace’s Pick – Muse “Supermassive Black Hole”

Now this is a CLASSIC Twilight song. If you are a Twilight fan, this song instantly transports you into a misty field surrounded by trees… and of course, playing baseball. One of the most unforgettable scenes in the first Twilight movie is when Bella heads out with the Cullens for their legendary baseball game. With “Supermassive Black Hole” blasting in the background, we get the ultimate mix of drama and fun. They are showing off just how ridiculously strong and fast the vampires really are. Baseball isn’t just a pastime for them, it’s a family tradition. This moment also shows just how serious Edward is about bringing Bella into his world. This song transfers me into the spooky woods and makes me think of misty fall weather. This song is both moody and exhilarating, which adds to the fall adrenaline, thanks to this scene. This song really imprints on the fans of Twilight. Listen below!
