Ella’s Bonnaroo Pick: “Supermarket” by Wet Leg

Ella’s intern pick of the week is “Supermarket,” by Wet Leg. This is the eleventh track off their self-titled album Wet Leg, released in 2022. They are an English Indie rock band from the Isle of Wight. Their lead singers are Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers. Their band includes Josh Mobraski, Ellis Durand, and Henry Holmes. Cumulatively, they form a vibrant tongue-in-cheek, indie alternative band. The song “Supermarket” displays a delightful, absurd yet dreamy song that turns an everyday grocery run into a love story. This track blends an infectious guitar riff with driving percussion and an almost summer-camp-like sing-along vocals. It perfectly balances a sweet romance with a deadpan sense of humor, making it the foolproof song for your indie-rock vibe.

Josh’s Bonnaroo Pick: “Gans Media Retro Games” by Hot Mulligan

Josh’s intern pick of the week is “Gans Media Retro Games,” by Hot Mulligan. Released on May 12, 2023, this is their tenth song on their third studio album, Why Would I Watch. The band originally started in 2014 and came from Michigan. Hot Mulligan is most known for their pop-punk/midwest emo sound and their deep emotional lyrics. Gracie’s Bonnaroo Pick: “Tap Out” by The Strokes

Gracie’s intern pick of the week is “Tap Out” by The Strokes. This is the opening track off their fifth studio album, Comedown Machine, released in 2013. The Strokes are an American rock band from New York City made up of Julian Casablancas, Nick Valensi, Albert Hammond Jr. Nikolai Fraiture, and Fabrizio Moretti. Known for their cool, garage-rock sound, the band helped shape the early 2000s indie rock revival. “Tap Out” shows a smoother side of The Strokes, blending bright guitar lines, a laid-back groove, and Julian Casablancas’ airy vocals. The track feels dreamy, catchy, and slightly mysterious while still sounding unmistakably like The Strokes, making it a perfect Bonnaroo-ready pick for any indie rock fan.
