It’s hard to believe it, but today is our tenth and final episode of Holiday Hops! We hope you’ve enjoyed listening and learning about all kinds of delicious brews this holiday season. On today’s episode, DJ Jayson and Rhizome Productions’ Matt Leff sample a festive porter from a Kentucky-based brewer.
Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Peppermint Porter is a seasonal brew by Lexington Brewing Co. It comes in at 8.2% ABV, and Matt Leff states the scrumptious scent of the porter is like an “alcoholic candy cane.” Lexington Brewing Co wants drinkers to “Taste the Beer of Bourbon Country,” so fittingly, the porter is aged in bourbon barrels. Then, they add peppermint which provides the porter’s festive flavor profile. Matt Leff suggests making a beer cocktail with it, which would involve adding a little bourbon and a candy cane for some holiday flare.
Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Peppermint Porter comes in 4 packs of 12oz bottles. It’s not a supermarket find, but you will be able to purchase it at some of the finer beer retailers in and around Nashville. So, pick up a 4 pack and enjoy it while it’s available!
