Teddy at Night

Lightning 100 is excited to announce Teddy at Night and their song “Tiny Reapers” as our local artist of the week!

Teddy at Night is a synth-rock trio and project of musician Teddy Boldt. Boldt is the former drummer of both the Christian rock band Family Force 5 and the pop duo For King and Country. He is joined by bandmates Stephanie Bowers and Ezra Salmine, who make up the current Teddy at Night lineup. Boldt explores a high-energy, electronic rock sound in Teddy at Night’s music. The band draws clear inspiration from iconic synth rock artists like U2, Phil Collins, and The War on Drugs.

“Tiny Reapers” is the band’s newest track, following their Lost Art EP released earlier this year. The track stays true to the band’s 80s new wave inspiration. Boldt’s pitch-shifted vocals in the chorus and the plethora of glitchy sound effects throughout the song give it an avant-garde sound. The band’s Instagram claims this song is for “fellow recovering elementary evangelists.” With themes of accountability and integrity, “Tiny Reapers” is a paranoid track about feeling watched and facing your guilt. Boldt reminds the listener, “Tiny reapers, chipping away, keeping track of what you do and what you say.” The upbeat groove of the song makes it easy to move past the intense lyrics and want to dance! Rhythmic synths and Boldt’s emotive singing voice keep spirits high while listening to this track!
