Local artist of the week is Sam Lewis, a country and soul artist from Knoxville. He made the move to Nashville in 2009 to pursue music. Since then, he has released 3 albums. He released his debut album Sam Lewis in 2012, followed by Waiting On You in 2015. His newest album was released this past May, entitled Loversity.
Called “a modern Townes Van Zandt” by Chris Stapleton, Lewis’s soulful music has also been compared to Al Green and Van Morrison. He has worked with Leon Russell, The Wood Brothers, Kenny Vaughan, Dave Jacques, Darrell Scott, and many more. He toured with Chris Stapleton in the summer of 2015, and went on to play sold out shows at venues such as The Tabernacle and Ryman Auditorium.
About his latest album Loversity, Lewis states “This is the closest thing I’ll ever write to a concept album. The idea is that we are all trying to get somewhere — all running from something and toward something. We’re all together in it, though.”
Sam will be a part of Lightning 100’s Tomorrow is Today and is playing at 3rd and Lindsley on Sunday November 11th! This is sponsored by New Amsterdam Vodka and Lagunitas Brewing Company.
