Casey’s DJ Pick of The Week is “My Car” by Tower Brothers!

Boston natives Tower Brothers have dropped yet another offering of their explosive indie-disco power pop. The band just passed a year since moving to Nashville from the Northeast. However, brothers and songwriters Owen and Jackson Tower have long since established themselves as a premier indie presence in Music City. Recruiting guitarist Tom Prescott and drummer Quinten Cohen, the band wasted no time booking shows at local hotspots such as The Basement and The East Room. Here, they continue to prove they’re the real deal.

Having continued to push the limits of their sound, “My Car” shows a new, energetic layer to their capabilities. The track showcases a songwriting chemistry and smart arrangement that could only come from shared genetics. Some truly creative instrumentation is on display here. Mathy bursts of guitar fury give way to retro synth arpeggios and falsetto hooks. Honest lyrics reference their home state, being used like a boomerang, and fears about the upcoming election. The controlled chaos culminates with a fuzzy, glitchy solo that conjures the dizzying magic of early garage rock pioneers. The whole track is reminiscent of the brand of indie punk one might seek out in Mom Jeans or Remo Drive, though Tower Brothers seemed to have arrived at the same conclusion from an entirely different journey.

The brothers have accompanied the track with a slew of Instagram reels chock full of hilarious sibling humor. They have several shows lined up to promote “My Car,” one on September 6th at The Cobra and one on September 8th at The East Room.
