Kelsey Abbott is Lightning 100’s Local Artist of the Week! She released her new single “I Fall In Love With You Every Night” back on November 2nd. Abbott blends expressive songwriting with a “stripped-back, acoustic sound.” She has released several singles to follow up her 2019 EP Dreaming With My Eyes, with “I Fall In Love With You Every Night” being the most recent.
“I Fall In Love With You Every Night” opens with an acoustic guitar. The guitar eerily plays a melodic phrase reminiscent of a Bach cello suite. After the guitar introduction ceases, the song’s first verse begins. The production by Abbot and Bryce Dubray is initially acoustic, centered on guitars and a drum kit, but is later filled out by synthesizers and electric guitars. Abbott’s vocals are full of emotion and uncertainty as she sings rhetorical questions and private confessions. “Please, please say that it’s alright,” she pleads, “because I fall in love with you every night.”
Abbott also released and starred in the music video for “I Fall In Love With You Every Night.” The video features haunting, solitary cinematography where Abbott stands and dances alone, much like a ghost.
