Stephanie’s DJ Pick of the Week!
The New Zealand indie rock band is back with a brand new single, “Dying To Believe,” off their new album Jump Rope Gazers coming out on June 10th. This record is a follow up to the 2018 release; Future me Hates me. The new record will explore deeper relationships within the band, and how they’ve grown closer over time through touring, traveling, and creating three albums together. The Beths have a unique garage rock sound that is very reminiscent of the ’90s while still incorporating modern elements of indie-pop. Imagine PJ Harvey collaborating on a SALES record from 2020.
“Dying to Believe” details the insecurity one finds while in a new relationship. The song is deceivingly upbeat and catchy despite the weight of the lyrics. This song makes you want to dance through the fear of the unknown and push worries aside. The hilarious music video for the single has detailed instructions on “How to be The Beths in four easy steps.” This video and single are both phenomenal and have made the anticipation for the upcoming album even more exciting. Though very tentative, The Beths are set to join Green Day, Weezer and Fall Out Boy on the New Zealand/Australia Hella Mega Tour this November.
