Dan’s DJ Pick this week is Trent Dabbs‘ “Hey There California!” Dabbs is a singer-songwriter from Mississippi, but now calls Music City home. He is a storied songwriter and collaborator, working with artists like Kacey Musgraves, Ingrid Michaelson, COIN, Ruby Amanfu, Little Big Town and many more. His last album “Positano” is his eleventh, and we can’t wait to see what he brings to the table next year with the release of a new album.
“Hey There California” is Dabbs’ first release of the year. He worked with producer Jeremy Bose, who has produced most of Dabbs’ discography. This track is all about the confusing parts of love, and figuring someone out. With careful lyrics about learning more about someone, and feeling lost yourself, this song creates a melancholic and nostalgic haze.
