Jayson’s DJ pick of the week showcases The Black Crowes’ latest single, “Wanting and Waiting.” Their upcoming album Happiness Bastards, is out on March 15th on the band’s Silver Arrow label. Now on their 3rd reunion, this album marks their first since 2009’s “Before The Frost… Until The Freeze.” And their first new album of original material in 15 years with 2024 commemorating the 40th anniversary of the band’s inception.
The Black Crowes started in 1984 in Atlanta, Georgia by brothers Chris and Rich Robinson. The band quickly gained attention for their energetic live performances and a sound that paid homage to classic rock while injecting a fresh, contemporary vibe. The Black Crowes have sold more than 30 million albums and are a staple to the 90s rock scene.
Produced by Jay Joyce, a former Crowded House/Wallflowers guitarist, the album features a guest appearance by country star Lainey Wilson on a track. “Wanting And Waiting,” encapsulates the band’s signature funky, hard-strutting party sound, serving as a “love letter to rock ‘n’ roll.” Returning to their classic sound and unmistakable riffs, this blues based rock n roll band is back. Their “blood’s on fire,” and The Black Crowes are ready to get in your face and remind you what they’re all about. The band just announced a 35-date international tour starting April 2nd. Set to begin on April 2nd at Grand Ole Opry House right here in Nashville.
