Keith’s DJ Pick this week is “Do I Love You (Indeed I Do)” by Bruce Springsteen.
This release comes off Springsteen’s new album that is set to be released November 11. “Only The Strong Survive”. “Do I Love You (Indeed I Do)” is the album’s lead single.”Only The Strong Survive” is a cover album with songs from the catalogues of Motown, Gamble and Huff, Stax and more. Springsteen told Rolling Stone earlier last month that he just wanted to pay homage to “the great American songbook of the early 60s and 70s”.
This track is everything you want from the Boss and more. With the soulful lyrics originally sung by Frank Wilson, this song makes you want to get up and dance! Springsteen and the E Street Band, along with some killer background vocals create an unbelievable track that makes us even more excited for the upcoming album. The upbeat music accompanies beautiful lyrics of showing the one you love how much you do.
The original version of the song by Frank Wilson was is a bit of an enigma. While currently available for streaming , the original pressing by Motown is almost no existent. “Do I Love You (Indeed I Do)” is Wilson’s only single with Motown. The original vinyls have since been destroyed with only about 5 left. Springsteen’s cover is definitely giving this sing some new life!
The Boss will be out on tour next year, and you can get “Only The Strong Survive” November 11!
