Steph’s DJ pick of the week is “Paris” by stagediver!
Stagediver is a Nashville based indie rock band fronted by Kelsey Kopecky. Kelsey Kopecky is known for her previous group Kopecky Family Band, that has created indie folk music since 2010. Since then she has formed Stagediver which is straying away from Kopecky’s folk inspirations into a more indie rock based sound. The band is releasing their debut album Tiny House, Big Backyard in the near future. The album features their two most recent singles “David Sedaris” and “Paris”.
“Paris” is an intense and resonate track that features Kopecky’s strong vocal presence, heavy bass lines, and captivating lyrics. With a hook like “We all think we are famous because we’ve been to Paris / going out at night with a view from a terrace / feeling important but not cause of merit / just a promise to follow the danglin’ carrot” the lyrics pull the listener and leave them wanting more. The music video has a unique DIY feel that features the band rocking out behind a trailer and sticking their hand in a mystery box.
