“Silver” by Wunderhorse is Jayson’s DJ Pick of the week!
“Silver” comes off of Wunderhorse’s second studio album, Midas. The English rock band formed in 2021, its members including front man Slater, Harry Tristan Fowler on guitar, Peter Woodin on bass, and Jamie Staples on drums. The band’s sound bears resemblance to other alternative rock artists such as Pixies and The Smashing Pumpkins. The clean cut guitar sound and Slater’s impeccable vocals on “Silver” give it that classic 90s rock song feel.
The song itself is about opening up to someone and showing them your ugly side. “I’ll warm your bed, I’ll pull your threads and fill your head / With something dark, something dark”. Everyone has parts of themselves they would rather keep hidden away from the world- a secret no one dares know about. However, every once in awhile we let our guard down for special people. In order for another person to love us at our fullest, they have to first know us at our fullest. At the end of the day, those gross parts of us are still us, and you can’t always take the good without the bad.
