A showstopper and rocker, Gyasi never fails to amaze us with his modern rock-and-roll hits. Every track is an electric experience that resembles the likes of David Bowie, T-Rex, and Cage the Elephant. Gyasi’s latest 2021 release “Burn It Down” has been featured on Casey’s 615 Saturday and The 615, and he is this week’s Local Artist of the Week!
Growing up in rural West Virginia, Gyasi listened to rock-and-roll legends like The Rolling Stones, Lou Reed, and The Beatles. His passion for music and showmanship derives from these artistic influences. “Once I got a taste of performing with my first band when I was 15, I decided that was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life, so I pursued it and set out to learn everything I could,” says Gyasi.
Most of his tracks incorporate elements of neo-glam music, pulling inspiration from 70s’ glam rock. Gyasi turns his sound into storytelling by expressing his creativity through fashion and visuals. Pink fringe jackets, platform wedges, and metallic face paint only scratch the surface of his vast glitter rock wardrobe. Additionally, his sets are full of multi-colored, flashing lights to keep the audience on their toes.
Gyasi’s self-expression elements intertwine with his lyrics and sound. “Burn It Down” mixes electric guitar riffs with confident lyrics like, “lately, feels like the world is so broken, yeah. Burn it down flip the switch, pull the trigger now.” The rock artist comments on the chaos of life and the need to start from scratch. A rock-heavy song with attitude, “Burn It Down” is sure to be on repeat here at Lightning 100.
With new and upcoming shows, we can’t wait to see Gyasi and follow along his star-studded journey! Listen all week to hear “Burn It Down” as we feature Gyasi as our Local Artist of the Week! Catch it live on-air at 100.1FM on your dial or streaming live at lightning100.com.
