Casey’s DJ pick of the week is “7 Up” by Steady Rotation.

Originally hailing from Manchester, TN, Steady Rotation is bringing slacker rock back in the 2020s. Classic bands of this genre like Pavement and Guided By Voices come to mind as clear influences, especially in this fantastic new single. In a day where so many mainstream songs find themselves overproduced and hyper-exact, the loose, authentic nature of Steady Rotation really shines through as a refreshing change. The band consists of 4 members: Matt Sadler, Tucker Boss, Logan Eley, and Dan Larsen, whose life-long friendship clearly aids to their musicianship and harmony as a cohesive sonic force.

“7 Up” is the last single before their debut EP “Parlor Music”, which was just recently released on October 25th. Unlike many of their slacker-rock predecessors, their records feature a stellar mix and clean master that makes for a listening experience that transports you to a different world. If you like “7 Up”, be sure to give their new EP a listen as it’s much of the same in the best way. And they are local to Nashville so find them on socials to stay in the know about upcoming shows in the area!
