Our Frothy Monkey Local Artist of the Week is Shawn Byrne and Friends’ new song “Hot Commodity”!

Dual talent artist and producer Shawn Byrne earned the feature of Nashville Local Artist of the Week. His new single comes in anticipation for his upcoming record, “Friendly Fire”. The single delves into the harsh reality of society’s reliance on technology, and more specifically social media. While both of those things have positive effects on the world, it has become too easy for companies to steal our attention away and turn it into a “commodity”. Byrne encourages his audience to put the phone down, step away from social media and doom scrolling, and spend time alone with your soul.

The track itself sits in the indie rock genre. The song is angsty and angry- but in a palatable and amusing fashion. Byrne’s vocals are reminiscent of the alternative rock genre and complete the song’s anti-society expressionism. The song is a call to action. A statement of power and taking back what belongs to you.

Byrne has accomplished a lot in his career. In 2020, he was honored as the grand prize winner in American Songwriter magazine’s Lyric Contest. Since then, Byrne has been producing music here in Nashville for artists such as Sarah Peacock, Abe Partridge, and Brian Sutherland. In addition to an artist, Shawn is a family man. He has a daughter named Arlo who can be seen featured on the album art for his song “Love Was Just A Word”. Bryne clearly has a lot of passion for his artwork, his clients, and those around him.
